The Great Decorate

The Great Decorate, now in its fifth year, is a holiday tree decorating contest, that raises awareness and funds to support local foster teens that are close to aging-out of the foster care system. Each year, foster teen recipients are selected for The Great Decorate through a partnership with the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange.

From November 24 through December 31, all are encouraged to visit participating restaurants and retailers throughout downtown Birmingham to view magnificently decorated holiday trees and decor. Vote for your favorite by donating online at www.thegreatdecorate.com or in-store.

100% OF DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO LOCAL FOSTER TEENS TO USE TOWARD THEIR FUTURE WHEN THEY TURN 18.

Each year in the United States, more than 26,500 fosted care teens age-out of the system, including 1,700 in Michigan alone. Since 2019, The Great Decorate has raised more than $186,000 to support foster teens in need in Michigan. The non-profit has also raised more than $35,000 to support local businesses through the contest.

Winter Markt & Tree Lighting

Experience the magic of the holidays at the annual Birmingham Winter Markt, presented by Mercedes-Benz of Bloomfield Hills, featuring displays from local artists and vendors, European cuisine, thousands of holiday lights, ice sculptures, live entertainment and more. Warming stations, visits with Santa* and the Kinderhaus children’s activity area are sure to please visitors of all ages!

Make an appointment to visit Santa* at his quaint home in Shain Park. While you're here, hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage for short tour of beautifully decorated Shain Park. As always, Santa House and carriage rides are free! 

Donations benefiting local non-profits will be accepted during the event for those that would like to contribute. Special thank you to Shain Park Realtors for their continued support. 

*Visits with Santa are by appointment only except during Winter Markt (Friday, December 1 -Sunday, December 3) when Santa visits will be first-come, first-served. For all other dates registration opens November 1 at 8:00 a.m.

The Great Decorate

The Great Decorate, now in its fifth year, is a holiday tree decorating contest, that raises awareness and funds to support local foster teens that are close to aging-out of the foster care system. Each year, foster teen recipients are selected for The Great Decorate through a partnership with the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange.

From November 24 through December 31, all are encouraged to visit participating restaurants and retailers throughout downtown Birmingham to view magnificently decorated holiday trees and decor. Vote for your favorite by donating online at www.thegreatdecorate.com or in-store.

100% OF DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO LOCAL FOSTER TEENS TO USE TOWARD THEIR FUTURE WHEN THEY TURN 18.

Each year in the United States, more than 26,500 fosted care teens age-out of the system, including 1,700 in Michigan alone. Since 2019, The Great Decorate has raised more than $186,000 to support foster teens in need in Michigan. The non-profit has also raised more than $35,000 to support local businesses through the contest.
